6. How is Lamont Christian School distinct from the public school?
Lamont Christian School’s solid academic education is infused with
a compelling Christian perspective. Since 1957, Lamont Christian has
been providing the children of families who desire a Christ-focused education,
a refreshing reformed Christian perspective that accentuates the rule
of Jesus Christ over all of life and learning. While acknowledging the
sinful nature of our children, we celebrate how every one reflects God’s
own image and has been blessed with special gifts and talents to be used
in his service. Partnering with Christian families and churches, we seek
to broaden and deepen every child’s
Christian faith as we form a learning community of growing believers.
7. How is Lamont Christian School distinct from home schooling?
Like Christian home schooling parents, Lamont Christian School conscientiously
teaches the enduring truths of our Christian faith. We, too, walk beside
every child to ensure that they are challenged academically and spiritually.
In addition, we strive to form a community of learners that assists
children in living as contributing members of a vibrant school community,
a growing microcosm of Christ’s kingdom. Each child is grouped
with students from every grade level into “friendship groups.” Students
in every class assist and encourage one another; upper students are
challenged with opportunities to learn and hone their talents and leadership
skills with lower students, among affirming, supportive peers and teachers.
8. Is Lamont Christian School run by a church?
Lamont Christian School is an independent Christian school, a member
of Christian Schools International, one of the three earliest Christian
school networks in the United States. Lamont Christian is governed
by a seven-member school board that is elected from the parents of
children who are enrolled in the school by the parents themselves.
Therefore, the school board is very responsive and is directly responsible
to our families. Lamont Christian families are supported with tuition
payment plans by five churches (from three different denominations).
